Focus for 2011...
HEARTWISH (PROJECT) 9:
So far in 2011 we have been working on the goal of raising enough funds to support ALL of the 23 students we enabled to go to school from September 2010 to June 2011 to again return to school in September 2011 until June 2012 (21 + another student in Haiti for a total of 22 and 2 students in Kenya). The total funds to achieve that goal will be $7000 (based on last year's requirements), and what I consider totally G-O-O-D N-E-W-S is (as of this posting March 23, 2011) we are a little more than half way there, thanks to the volunteer efforts and contributions of many wonderful G-I-V-E-R-S. If you are already a member of this TEAM EFFORT we say Thank you; if you wish to share with us, we so kindly ask you to get in touch with us. Tax receipts are issued to all who wish them.
Even to offer a little can be much in the Hands of God!!!!!
Update July 25, 2011: We now have raised over $6000 toward this goal. Less than a $1000 to go.So many wonderful people are helping us get there and we are ever so thankful. We shall keep you posted. Yipper!!!!!
Update August 20, 2011: $700 has been sent to Heartbeat Ministries to ensure that the two students in Kenya go back to school again this year. Delighted that ALL of us who have contributed to ECC share in offering this opportunity of promise for a more achieving future. Thank you Everyone!!
Update October 03, 2011: The total fees for the 22 students to go back to school in October 2011 is $6550. A cheque for $250 had been sent earlier in January as a token of our commitment, and now we have the remainder of the funds $6300 ready to go. We have now successfully fulfilled our financial commitment. How good is that!!!!!!!!
Update October 11, 2011: EveryChildCounts...EveryStudentMatters during the month of September raised $1500 for children in Kenya-Somalia. A cheque for $750 is sent to The Humanitarian Coalition of Canada and $750 sent to World Food Programme, both currently on the ground in East Africa helping those in greatest need during the famine disaster. Again it is a most grateful heart that we report the kindness of others who say I care and here is my donation. Thank you. Thank you.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Thank you.

HEARTWISH (PROJECT) 7: May 2010 - Funds have been successfully raised ($2000) to enable five students to attend school in Deschapelles, Haiti for the new school year starting in September 2010. This commitment is to provide tuition fees for 1 student sponsored 2009-2010 to attend high school for this coming school year, as well as for four new students to attend school, starting in September, 2010. This allows the Director of HATS - Haiti to share funds now with Haitians so in need from the recent earthquake, and knowing these funds will be available to begin the new school year. Congrats to EveryChild...EveryStudent!!!! As of September 1, 2010 a cheque for $2000 will be sent to Hands Across The Sea - Haiti http://www.hats-haiti.com. Another reason to celebrate those who donate to the well being of children/students.
HEARTWISH (PROJECT) 6: To help Children in Haiti. Jan.15/10
Wow, during the past few days the World has witnessed such utter devastation, destruction and tragedy in Haiti. Many, many hearts are moved to action by this. EveryChildCounts...EveryStudentMatters has gone to a number of schools and made this offer... that if a school were to collect pennies, nickels, etc., to Help Haiti, then EveryChildCounts...ESM would match it up to $100. Already, since September 2009, ECC...EveryStudentMatters has been supporting a school and orphanage in Deschappelles in Haiti (HATS) and would like for students here in Nova Scotia to help more students in Haiti in such unbelievable circumstances. Here's to hoping our little matching challenge will encourage caring hearts to assist Haitian students in such, such, such need.
P.S. Today, February 12, 2010 I am pleased to say that Tyler Herritt, Jeannie Herritt and Rollie Herritt went to the Canadian Red Cross in Halifax, Nova Scotia and delivered to them a cheque of $300 on behalf of EveryChildCounts...EveryStudentMatters for Haiti Relief Fund. We understand that amount is matched by our Canadian Government. We asked that these funds be used to help a Haitian child in need.
HEARTWISH 1/PROJECT 1: June 2009 - The very first project funded by Every Child Counts...Every Student Matters Association is to buy Kurzweil Software to help a student in one of Halifax Regional Schools to further one's literacy skills. This software costs five hundred dollars, and thanks to fundraising efforts for Every Child...Every Student this project is now being funded. Yea!!!!
HEARTWISH 2/PROJECT 2: To provide tuition fees for a student in Haiti in order to attend high school, starting in September, 2009. As of September 14, 2009 a cheque for $400 has been sent to Hands Across The Sea - Haiti http://www.hats-haiti.com/. Another reason to celebrate those who donate to the well being of children/students. Here is a note from Karen, Director of Hands Across The Sea-Haiti...

She has already engaged in development work in Africa particularly to help children. She is gearing up for another mission of the heart in Swasiland. I salute her and wish to fundraise to help. If you would like more details of Allyson's gracious efforts, please let me know and I will provide them. Update:I have already raised $500 and committed that amount to this project. March 27, 2010
